Yes, I tried to be as minimalist as possible by hoarding Muji stuff and going white and silver. But I just can't! My love for all things colorful and fun will always be my thing.

What's in My Pencil Case?
Yes, I tried to be as minimalist as possible by hoarding Muji stuff and going white and silver. But I just can't! My love for all things colorful and fun will always be my thing.
2011
It has been more than a year since I actually wrote here. "Real life" took over and time became more and more scarce. Got a new job which has more sense, availed of cheap fares which got me places, bigger and more active dogs now to bathe, and a new camera to play with.
But all else remains the same and my love for all nice and quirky things (like a slice of rainbow cake)... so here we go!

High in High Street
After meeting with the Dean & Trent team over frappuccinos, Rick and I went (including our boss) to Mag:Net High Street for Puma's Archive Uncovered Event. Great bands (Go Taken by Cars!) in the lineup plus overflowing booze, spelled so much fun!

Socially Unsocial

Funny how everything changes so fast. It has come to a point where it is already a MUST to have to succumb to the temptation of signing in with all social networking sites (ehem) and just try to be as public as possible, sharing every detail of their life via facebook and twitter. Now, some are already rallying against the whole idea, even making it a protocol for some events to refrain from blogging or tweeting about it.
“We are fighting against this whole idea that everything people do has to be constantly chronicled". “People think that every thought they have, every experience — if it is not captured it is lost.”
What do you think?

Life as an Intern
It's nice doing the whole internship thing all over again, best doing it the way I wanted it to be. Years ago it was dealing with NGO's and their advocacies (yes I majored in Polsci), and getting into fashion was completely out of the picture. It must've been three years since I finished my fashion design studies, and it's just now that im really delving into this industry, slowly learning and grasping everything.

Yesterday, I was lucky enought to be part of Dean & Trent's video shoot, to showcase collections, touching base a new format for promoting the brand.

Doing intern work is real work. Hours and hours of research, running errands and just literally play the "alalay" part. But more than anything else, I'v never felt so excited and happy playing this part. I like the hard work, momentum and just the vibe that you get from working with such amazing talent.

Most importantly, what makes the whole experience perfect, is working for such a dynamic brand, good quality stuff and the flexibility and willingness to think and work outside the box. I feel so lucky being part of this team at this stage, when everything is yet to catapult to great heights (yeah think postal service).

On top of everything, I just feel so honored working for the man behind this label. I feel so inspired with his creativity and passion for what he's doing.

What I'm Reading

Im currently reading Barbara Walters' memoir. More than her accomplishments (first woman to do news reporting in TV) I am fascinated with the list of people she got to interview over the years. Name any significant figure in history, be in politics, showbiz, etc. she has all agained access to them. Her book is like a digested history book, with juicy gossip on the side. I never expected to like this book, moreso find her interesting. But reading her life and her experiences, Ms. Walters has definitely gained my respect.
